SONAR HA850 & HA1050 Review Foiling Mag
The HA foil range is one of the finest current offerings available. The HA range is going to suit ambitious intermediates and above that have decent pumping ability and are maintaining foil flight on jibes and tacks. If you have aspirations of racing or simply riding faster, or dropping into bigger swell whether it’s winging or tow foiling, this is a system to seriously consider. The HA range definitely has a bias towards fast tow-in sports. Read the full review here View the Sonar front wing here

Bruna Vice-Champ x2!
Congratulations to Bruna Kajiya for claiming runner-up spot in both the Freestyle and Kite-Surf disciplines at the Copa Kitley GKA World Cup event in Taiba, Brazil. Kesiane Rodriguez (BRA) 7.70 V Bruna Kajiya (BRA) 7.64 With over a decade at the top of a technical discipline like Freestyle, Bruna Kajiya called on her world title winning experience to beat tour chargers Marcella Witt and Camille Losserand on her way to the final. Kajiya was clearly enjoying stepping into the kite-surf discipline and was improving with every heat. The final brought a big effort from both riders as they chased the best swells to the corner of the competition zone and then powered up their legs for gruelling sprints back upwind. Mid-heat …Bruna found the heat’s best wave and hopped ahead of Kesiane on points. But the fightback was relentless and Kesiane retook the lead in the final moments. Crowned as the event champion, Kesiane had shown the most fluid, connected and vertical approach all event. Kesiane took victory by just 0.06 points in the end and both women were obviously overtaken by the thrill of a home nations final. While this may not have been an epic final in terms of wave quality, there was no shortage of Brazilian heart and desire. FINAL RESULTS: 1 Kesiane Rodriguez (BRA) 2 Bruna Kajiya (BRA) 3 Capucine Delannoy (FRA) 4 Camille Losserand (SUI) Congratulations also to Capucine Delannoy, for a podium finish AND the 2022 Kite-Surf World Championship Title at Taiba! Capucine's 2022 Kite-Surf World Champ too!
Way to go Capucine Delannoy, 2022 GKA Kite-Surf World Champion. The French teenager claimed her second 2022 World Title in the quarters at the Copa Kitely GKA Kite-Surf World Cup Brazil in November, by winning her crucial quarter final against number two ranked rider, Frances Kelly. As tour leader, Capucine Delannoy only had to reach the semi-finals to get over the line for the title. Having already won the GKA’s Big Air (Strapless Freestyle) World Championship in June, this would make Surf her second World Title for 2022. After three weeks of pumping winds in Taiba for both the GKA Kite World Tour Freestyle riders and the GWA Wingfoil World Tour competitors, the wind was light. But Taiba is always contestable and the French teenager dialled into the task at a break just down the road from where she lives with her family, in Prea. Compact in the legs, centred over the board and at one with the kite, she repeatedly repositioned it in the sky to stay in close connection with the wave. “I couldn’t dream of anything better. I got two world titles this year, my family is all here, I’m so grateful for everything. I’ve been training every day with my father and brother for this, and I’m so happy.” - Capucine Delannoy. World Championship in the bag, Capucine, however, couldn’t fight the destiny of an all-Brazilian final after so many great performances by local riders in the last weeks. Beaten by Kesiane Rodriguez’ relentless wave attack in the semis, Capucine had to be happy with third position at this event after going on to beat Camille Losserand in the mini-final. An all-Brazilian final saw dynamic cross-over freestyler Bruna Kajiya place second to winner, Hesiane Rodrigues. When will the 2022 Event Run?
Red Bull King of the Air Window opens this Thursday The wind window will officially open from 24th November – 9th December, but when will the 10th-Anniversary of the world’s most extreme Big Air kiteboarding event kick off in Cape Town, South Africa?Become a forecasting guru with a PredictWind Subscription. Follow the wind forecast live and ENTER NOW to win a free year of forecasting!Blouberg Beach in Table View is known as the Capetonian Mecca of kitesurfing. The beach is perfectly angled for riders to make the most of the prevailing summer south-easterly wind (the ‘Cape Doctor’) as well as the westerly swell needed to provide the ramps for the kiters to launch off. The Cape Doctor trade-wind is created when a high-pressure system formed in the Southern Atlantic Ocean meets the warmer, low-pressure system rising off the land. When the sun gets hotter during the day, more heat rises off the land and the pressure increases, so you’ll find the wind starts to blow stronger. By the afternoon it’s fully pumping. Former King of the Air champion Nick Jacobsen says the side shore winds give riders the ultimate lead up towards the kickers rolling in; “as you ride straight out, you can really plan your takeoff.“It’s unreal how epic the conditions are at the event. Not many places in the world have a setup like this. The Doctor delivers these conditions throughout the summer in Cape Town, which means the competing riders get the chance to practice and train in repetitive conditions for a while leading up to the contest. Nick Jacobsen. Photo by Craig Kolesky. “You get the almost same conditions every time it’s windy, which is a lot. Training in the same conditions over time means you’re able to finetune your tricks and moves.” – Nick Jacobsen Become a weather-guru and win The PredictWind App lets you access live 1km-resolution forecasts on the go. Bruna Kajiya wins 2022 Vice World Champion title in Brazil
Three-time World Champion, Bruna Kajiya, placed 2nd in the GKA Freestyle Championships in Taiba, Brazil, for an overall Women Runners-Up podium finish to the 2022 season. Following earlier events in Salinas del Rey, and Neom, Sauda Arabia, the Copa Kitley GKA Freestyle-Kite World Cup Brazil was one of the most hotly contested and thrilling encounter ever seen in kiteboarding between the world's top riders at what is most likely the best freestyle spot in the world. Over the course of three days of action we saw world-first manoeuvres dropped in competition for the first time, while the general level of riding at this event was at a jaw dropping level throughout. Maxime Chabloz summed up best how the butter flat water and smooth 18-22 knot wind conditions made for the ultimate throwdown: "The level is insane. There's nothing affecting a rider's performance except their own skills. It's just so good." According to GKA commentary by Jim Gaunt, Bruna still had an outside chance of reclaiming the world championship at this event if the first place champion Mikaili Sol had finished in fourth position or below. At 35, Bruna is the veteran of the women's fleet, but is widely acknowledged as the rider who inspired more female participation in this discipline when she became the first woman to land a backside 315 in 2016. Showing all the grit and composure that has propelled her to previous success, the Brazilian dug deep during another tight battle in the final against Rita Arnaus, pulling out a signature sweet back mobe under pressure on the final trick to overtake the Spaniard and take second. Next event for the Freestylers is the opening round of the 2023 season at Fuwairit Kite Beach resort, Doha, Qatar from 31st January - 4th February.
